Globalization

Globalization is quite an easy concept. It is the means of connecting things around the world through culture, ideas, people, or digital means. Globalization is a way the countries all stay connected with one another whether it is with the newest product or food trends.
I think hybridization definitely related with Globalization in the sense that it is a way of adopting an idea that was successful somewhere else. Globalization is the way of connecting the world and Hybridization takes that on to a new level whether it is in television shows or the fast food industry.
An Example of Hybridization would be the shows American Idol and British Idol. Simon Cowell was a judge and producer on both of these shows. The show British Idol did extremely well over in the UK and so Simon decided to bring it here to the US. This is an example of hybridization and how it relates to globalization.

Advertising-Subaru

Advertisements today tend to play on people’s emotions. The advertisement I chose is the baby Subaru commercial. It plays on the emotions of parents in our society today because the problem he has to deal with is letting his baby girl grow up and allow her to drive a car for the first time by herself. I feel like this is a very powerful commercial because it deals with the safety and nurturing that parents should provide for their children.
Commercials that show nurturing and safety usually show a certain situation that most people can relate too. They take a situation that would grasp the emotional appeal of their viewers. On the safety side of the commercial they usually reiterate safety precautions you should take and why.
The commercial starts out with a little girl sitting in the front seat of her dad’s car and she is trying to get her dad to let her drive. He is telling her all the safety precautions she should take such as stay off the freeway until you are more experienced, buckle your seat belt, and be careful. He also tells her to stay off of her cell phone and to call him as soon as she gets where she is going, but he reminds her not to call him or text him while she is driving. He is being nurturing to her because he doesn’t want anything to happen to her so therefore he picks a car that is safe. The car plays the protector that he can’t be when she is out on the road and out in the world.
I think that this commercial is very powerful and it shows the advertising appeals such as safety, nurturing, and plays on emotions. These are some of the ways I feel like this commercial fits in with the blog prompt.
